DualSun Solar Power & Pool Heating

An innovative solar panel that combines the generation of solar electricity with heated water for your pool is winning Australian environmental awards and producing energy savings of up to $66,000+ over the course of 20 years.  Call Solarpro for more information.

How the DualSun Solar Panel saves Money and the Environment

Solar power panels are most efficient when they are kept cool.  The DualSun panel allows cold water to pass over the solar panel to keep it cool.  Then returns that heated water to the swimming pool using the same principle as all pool heating systems.  The difference with this hybrid panel is that the solar power (electricity) it produces can then be used to run your pool equipment bringing the ‘energy’ cost of the pool to zero and accumulating large savings for you compared to some other pool heating options.   An additional benefit is that the solar power you don’t use on your pool pump etc., can help power your home appliances – even more savings.  This makes it the responsible environmental choice while providing an excellent return on investment.

Australian Award Winning

In June 2018, the DualSun solar panel won two awards for energy savings at the SPASA (Swimming Pool & Spa Association)  Awards for Excellence.  The Gold Award for Sustainable Product of the Year in South Australia and the Silver Award in NSW.

Up to 15c/kWh for Solar Power

IPART  has set the benchmark range for solar feed-in tariffs at 11.9 to 15 cents per kilowatt hour (c/kWh) for the year starting 1 July 2017.  The new range is double the current amount and a more realistic price for solar power.  However, it is the wholesale price range and it is up to electricity retailers to make the decision to adopt it.

“With electricity prices set to rise again in July, this is good news for customers who have not been receiving a fair amount for the solar power they contribute to the grid.  The timing is great if you have been considering solar for a while. There are a lot of options now to achieve minimal electricity bills or complete energy self-sufficiency. ” Said David Veal, Managing Director of Solarpro.  Give us a call to discuss your options and get a quote.

“We encourage all our customers to approach their electricity retailers and shop around for the best deal.” David said.

There are calls for the benchmark range to be made mandatory to ensure retailers offer the higher price. Solarpro hopes electricity retailers will act without legislation and offer the higher price to their solar producing customers as AGL has done.

AGL has already announced that their NSW customers will receive a solar feed-in-tariff of 11.1c/kWh from 1 July 2017 compared to the current 6.1 c/kWh. This is an increase of 82%.  In a statement AGL said:

“The changes will help to offset the impact of higher prices in some states and deliver savings to customers with solar panels…….Solar feed-in tariffs are the rates paid for electricity that is fed back into the grid from a domestic renewable electricity generation source, such as a rooftop solar.

“Australia has the highest rate of household solar installation in the world, with over 15 percent of Australian homes hosting solar panels in 2017.

As the uptake of solar continues to increase, especially as costs associated with solar PV decrease, AGL is making changes that offer customers significant savings and better value for contributing clean energy to Australia’s electricity generation mix.”

Maximum solar power | Maximised roof space!

Do you want to fit solar electricity panels and a solar pool heating system on your roof? The key is to use compact, energy efficient pool heating panels with a maximum power generating solar electricity system. For a customer who required quite a large amount of solar electricity and pool heating, Solarpro installed a 6kW SolarEdge system with LG panels and Solartherm wind-proof enclosed pool heating panels. The SolarEdge system enables up to 25% more power to be generated because each panel produces its maximum possible output all the time unlike other systems, where power output is reduced from all panels if there is shade or dirt on just one panel. Each panel can be individually monitored to ensure maximum performance.  Other systems typically require additional equipment and software to be purchased to allow this to be done. Solartherm enclosed solar pool heating panels have been designed to improve on basic strip matting systems in a number of ways including the fact that far less roof space is required to generate heat.  See our dedicated pools web site for additional information: solarpropools.
