Energy Produced from Front & Back of the Solar Cell
The LG NeON® solar panels produce energy from both the front and the back of the cell. This innovative approach allows the absorption of light from the front and the back of the panel, which raises the panel’s performance. Lower Degradation than Industry Standard
Solar panels degrade over their lifetime and produce less electricity each year. LG has reduced the degradation of its solar panels by applying LiLy (LID- Improvement for lifetime yield) Technology, which controls the reaction of Boron and Oxygen, a key factor in light induced degradation (LID). The NeON® panels have a very low LID due to the use of N type treatment of the cells which uses phosphorous as a replacement for Boron.
Improved High Temperature Performance
Solar panels slowly lose ability to generate power as they get hotter. On a very hot summer day panels can be as hot as 70 degrees which means for many panels a performance loss of over 20% compared to a panel on a milder day. The NeON® solar panels have one of the best temperature performance characteristics,which means even in very high temperatures the panels will deliver higher output than standard panels. This gives you more power to run air-conditioning, pool pumps and fans for example.
Anti-reflective Coating Increases Output
LG uses an anti-reflective coating technology on the glass and the cells of the solar panels to ensure more light is absorbed in the panel and not reflected. This means more electricity generation.
Excellent Low Light Performance
Great performance under low light conditions due to LG technology and its own cell manufacturing with low tolerances, ensuring highly consistent performing panels. At 200W/m2 LG panel efficiency drop is -2% while many conventional panels reduce by -4%. This gives better performance on low light days including cloudy or early morning/late afternoon, the time when performance really counts.

LG has been manufacturing electrical goods since 1958 and have one of most stringent quality control procedures when manufacturing their solar cells and solar modules.
LG has been in solar research since the mid 1980s. Module production started in 2009 and current capacity is 1,2 GW with plans for 4 Gigawatt capacity within the next 2-3 years. In 2017, capacity will reach 2 GW. The manufacturing process is vertically integrated and this means that LG undertakes and controls every production stage from sourcing the silicon to manufacturing the cells and the modules. Overall over 500 quality control processes are being used to build the modules from scratch. LG Electronics has many offices in over 100 countries including USA, Japan, China, India, Germany, Australia and New Zealand.

In Australia they have offices in every mainland city and the Australian solar unit is based in Sydney. Since 2011 LG solar has distributed over 380,000 panels to Australian customers with 3 panels being accepted on goodwill when poor installation practices lead to panel failure. There has been no warranty returns. LG has a installation network across Australia and LG applies specific criteria such as ensuring quality installation standards and excellent customer service for selecting their dealers. LG has its own state-of-the-art intensive testing photovoltaic testing laboratory certified by all 4 key testing houses in the world such as TÜV*. UL** and Frauenhofer as being of world class testing standard. LG are the only solar manufacturer so far who has obtained this high level, 4 partners certification and their testing facilities are one of the world’s best. In order to be sold in Australia solar modules have to be tested and pass the IEC standard tests once. LG solar panels are tested in their special testing lab not to general IEC standards, for most tests for between two and up to four times the IEC standards, ensuring a very robust and long lasting solar module.
LG solar panels are manufactured in a fully automated manufacturing facility in Gumi, South Korea and come with a 12 year parts and labour product warranty (upgraded to 25 years in 2018) and 25 year performance warranty held here in Australia by LG Electronics.
